WB Waste Solutions strives to improve the areas we service by providing our customers the support they need to create "greener" communities.

Recycling is an integral component of that effort. In 2017, we acquired the Olive Street Processing, a Material Recovery Facility (MRF). With this integration, we are able to help reduce the amount of materials that end up in landfills and decrease our own carbon footprint as well.

OSP offers commercial recycling services directly to business customers and to haulers collecting recycling in DC Metro area.

In 2021, we invested $6 million in new state-of-the-art Machinex equipment, which allows us to process and divert from landfills more than 150 tons of commercial and residential recyclables per day.

OSP is dedicated to processing 100% of the materials it receives.

Do I need to separate the materials?

No, you do not need to separate the recyclables. We use a single stream recycling process, also called commingled. All of the recyclables, including newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum, junk mail, etc., are placed in a single bin or dumpster and sorted by machines at our facility. We also have workers at the conveyors to screen for missed or contaminated items.

What happens to the recycled materials?

Recycled materials are considered commodities and can be sold to end-users in both domestic and international markets. Those items such as cans, bottles and cardboard boxes can be broken down into raw materials again and sold to manufacturers.
